Tennessee ACLU Chooses Nashville Attorney as New Chief

The American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee (ACLU-TN) earlier this week announced that it selected a Nashville attorney to be its next executive director.

Kathy Sinback will now lead the organization, replacing Hedy Weinberg, who stepped down in July.

“The ACLU of Tennessee’s work is more important than ever as we are faced with multiple attacks on our civil rights and civil liberties here in Tennessee and across our country,” Sinback said. “ACLU-TN has long defended the rights of Tennesseans, particularly those who have been historically marginalized, and I am profoundly honored to build on this great work and to lead the organization at this time in its history.”

Sinback was formerly the Davidson County Juvenile Court administrator, where she served since 2014. She began her career in law in the Metropolitan Public Defender’s Office.

“The Davidson County Juvenile Court is looked to as a model across the state and throughout the nation for its implementation of a trauma-informed youth justice system with supports in place for court staff and the youth they serve,” according to the ACLU’s announcement of Sinback’s hiring.

Most notably, Sinback worked on the case of Cyntoia Brown.

Brown was a victim of sex trafficking who was convicted of murdering one of her traffickers at age 16. The case was subject to international attention, and ended when Brown’s sentence was commuted by then-Governor Bill Haslam (R).

Yes, Every Kid

The ACLU is often regarded as a far-left organization, known for its staunch support of left-wing causes like abortion and transgender issues like allowing boys to compete in girls’ sports, along with pushing for sterilizing children who say they are transgender.

“ACLU-TN uses a mix of strategies – advocacy, legislative lobbying, litigation and public education– to protect and advance your rights,” according to the state-level organization’s website. “We work proactively to pursue policies, practices and laws that protect Tennesseans against unfair and unequal treatment.”

…to protect and advance your rights,”…….Who’s rights??? My rights….? Could have fooled me. I haven’t seen any evidence of that. Lots of protecting left wing lunatics’ rights though.

Not anything to brag about. This ‘L’ in ACLU should stand for “lunacy”.
